Diana Willis is seeking four panelists (or three panelists and a respondent) to join a food media panel for the ICA 2025 conference in Denver, CO, taking place from June 12–16. The panel, tentatively titled “The Yuk Factor: Food Media and a Culture of Disgust,” will be submitted to the Popular Culture and Media Division. It will examine how creators on platforms like YouTube and TikTok use themes of disgust, distaste, and dislike to shape their content and foster communities that other food and foodways. The panel will explore questions such as how TikTok creator B. Dylan Hollis uses taste to highlight generational divides, the impact of viral “Disgusting Foods” videos, and who engages with #disgustingfoods hashtags.
